It's like you've read the 101 dwarf fortress tutorial and never replaced your beginner knowledge with something better. I shudder whenever I see players trading rock crafts. Oh I also buy animals and a single anvil if needed. Sometimes I will also buy up all the metal things to smelt down. Gypsum plaster and any materials I want for my nobles are the only other things I find I need. I also like to buy leather/cloth/thread/rope for lazyness so I don't have to have these industries. I also like to sell large gems since we can't currently do anything with them.īuying wise I always buy all the food as this gives my dwarfs a very varied diet and keeps them happy (Anything extra gets sold back the following season so our food always rotates). I also sell things I'd otherwise have to atom smash like worn socks plus any random crap dwarfs bring with them when they immigrate which isn't currently useful, toy anvils, wooden weapons and the like. It also is created naturally as part of useful fortress process unlike most other things. Everyone will buy it, it's efficient to transport and make and it's not prevented by any nobles.
